AVG occasionally needs to do a major update and it will ask you to continue via a pop-up from the taskbar (down by the date/time on the bottom-right corner of your screen). But for the rest, follow the instructions below: For nearly all of the ads, you can just click on the ‘X’ on the top-right to close them. Luckily, there are some easy things to do for you to keep AVG at the Free version, even if you’ve already been upgraded to the trial. If you provide a ‘Free’ product, it truly should be free and free of crappy annoyances. I understand that they are a business and need to make money, but seriously, it’s getting ridiculous.
